One day 3 Alar brothers were walking through the forest when they came across something in the middle of their path. "It looks like tharlarion dung!" said the first brother, "I better check it out. " He leaned forward and took a deep breath, "Smells like tharlarion dung!" he said. The second brother walked closer and stuck his finger inside it and felt, "Feels like tharlarion dung" he said. The third brother poked it and put it inside his mouth and said "Tastes like tharlarion dung." The three brother finally relaxed and said, "Good thing we didn't step on it, PHEW!"

A travelling merchant tried to sell new vulo in a wire cage to a passing warrior. "This is a talking vulo," he said. "And you can have him for five tarndisks."
The warrior said, "Who do you think you're fooling with this talking-vulo story? There ain't no such animal."
Suddenly the vulo looked up with tears in its eyes. "Please buy me, Sir," it pleaded. "This man is cruel. He never feeds me, never bathes me, never lets me out of this cage. And I used to be the wealthiest trick vulo in the South. I performed before Ubars. I was first sword of Ar, and was decorated ten times."
"Hey!" said the warrior. "it *can* talk. Why do you want to sell it for just five tarndisks?"
"Because," said the merchant, "I'm getting tired of all his lies."

A Ko-ro-ban, a Torvaldslander and a Cosian are lost in the Tahari desert. After days without water or food they come upon a silver box half buried in the sand. They examine the box and press a button that seems to be set along one side of it. Soon a silver disc appeared in the sky and a bright light shone out followed by a booming voice, "We are of the Priest Kings. We will grant you each one wish." The Ko-ro-ban goes first and wishes to be transported back to his villa where his shaded pool was filled with beautiful slavegirls. The light brightens a moment and the Ko-ro-ban vanishes in a flash. The Torvaldslander wishes to be transported back to his longhut where he knows his slaves eagerly await him with mead and pleasures. Once again the light brightens and the Torvaldslander vanishes. The Cosian sits down and thinks about what he should wish for. Suddenly realizing he is all alone in the desert, he promptly wishes that the Koraban and the Torvaldslander were back.

Three travelers, a Victorian, a Cosian and an Alar are cutting through the delta of Vosk when they are waylaid and captured by rencers. The village headman decides they can leave after they've each been put under the lash. He says to the Victorian, "What do you want on your back for your whipping?"
The man of Victoria responds, "I will take oil!"
So they put oil on his back, and a large rencer whips him 10 times. When he is finished the Victorian has these huge welts on his back, and he can hardly move.
The rencers haul the Victorian away, and say to the Cosian, "What do you want on your back?"
"I will take nothing!" says the Cosian, and he stands there straight and takes his 10 lashings without a single flinch.
"What will you take on your back?" the rencers ask the Alar.
He responds, "I'll take the Cosian."
