Dance of Life

The dancer she stands
Afore all her fans
Then slowly but surely
Starts to move her small hands
Starts twirling and twisting
Her motions serene
As the dance of life starts
An illustrious scene
Her form once crouched
Starts to straighten and grow
Her arms spiraling upwards
Seeking their goal
The music it caresses
Like a soft velvet glove
Strong arms envelope her
As she grows and finds love
She grabs at it blindly
Just to see it retreat
Her heart breaking soundly
Her tears bitter-sweet
The dance almost over
Her frame stooped and bowed
The music downs tempo
The drums beating loud
The dancer, she curls up
Her knees to her chest
Her life now extinguished
She gave it her best
A small form in the corner
Frail, empty and old
Gives in to the dance
Eyes close, body cold
