February 21, 2000 - Volume 2, Number 2

Welcome to the seventh edition of the Baren Touhk Gazette. And hey! We have another raffle coming up, and shortly after, the Winter Festival featuring more raffles, auctions and games! So make sure to check out the latest in news and make your plans for this Saturday.

Also featured in this issue is a chat with Beowulf and sadira brought to us by nyia. the first girl's desk has some useful info on collars summarized there. We have two of our regular features, Gorean Trivia and my ramblings, and to top that off, three poems from citizens, a story offer, and some "You know you've been on Gor too long when..."

Very special thanks go out this issue to caemlyn, nyia and lissa. All three stood up and answered my call for assistance with the gazette. All three have made this humble Gazeteer's life easier.

Now without further ado... let's see what's happening!

    Stories

caemlyn has a number of stories she is making available to citizens who mail in a request. The first is presently untitled, but is very explicit, so be forwarned *wink*. Those who wish a copy should mail a request to caemlyn.

    Humor

Here is a list taken from a recent thread on the CT mailing list.

You know you've been in Gor too long:

  • When your significant other says, "Heel!" ..... and you get to them before the dog does....
  • You refer to your car as a tarn or other riding animal
  • You meet someone and not ask where they're from, but rather where their homestone lies
  • You are distrustful of people not from your homestone, er.. city
  • You enter Dunkin Donuts and say, "bring me blackwine, heavy on the bosk milk, with two red sugars and one yellow
  • You introduce yourself as "Bob of Turia"
  • You enter a restaurant and drop to your knees beside the doorway and beg for entrance.
  • Before you leave the restaurant you beg permission to leave from the waiter.
  • You walk into your neighborhood bar and bellow, Paga!"
  • You walk into a local bar and, on your knees, beg permission to enter
  • You see a boa constrictor at the local zoo and say, "What a cute baby Hith!"
  • You name your racing greyhound "Ubara's Pride"
  • You call the local pet store inquiring about tarns
  • You go to a circus and skoff at the lion tamers saying, "I'd like to see him try that with a sleen!"
  • Your friends admire your collection of leather/silks
  • When your typing out an invoice at work and instead of Material and labor you type Masters and labor
  • When you answer the phone by saying Greetings
  • When your thoughts of what you should be doin are spoken to you using 'this girl' then slip and say it out loud.
  • You walk into the bank and open your mouth to receive the coins and hold a pouch open expecting the teller to put the money in it for you.
  • You walk through the grocery store saying things like... "aurora wiggles down aisle five with her silks fluttering about her thighs and a bright smile as she searches for the perfect brand of blackwine for Master"
  • You do not own a single stitch of clothing except the silks you have on

Next issue to come out by March 25.
