Crimson Talender Charity Appeal
So now we've been through the Harvest Festival, and in keeping with the theme of a bountiful Harvest and the upcoming Holiday Seasons, I would like to take this opportuntity to remind all that in every community and in every city (here or on old Earth) there are people in need. Families need food. Children need clothes. The homeless would probably appreciate a blanket or sweater for the oncoming cooler temperatures. Root about your dwelling and see what you can spare. Check your local newspapers for information on shelters and charitable organizations taking donations. Some ideas for donations...
- canned hams, frozen turkeys
- canned vegetables
- gift certificates to grocery markets
- other non-perishable foodstuffs (rice, instant potatoes, soup mix)
- coffee, tea, powdered milk
- toiletries (deoderant, soap, razors, shampoos)
- toys for children (new is nice, cleaned and used too)
- clothes, new and used
- blankets
- coats, hats, mittens, gloves
- books, videos, school supplies
- bus passes
- cash or service donations
- ... and whatever your imagination suggests!
See if your workplace will allow you to set up a box for donations. Check your local supermarket for bins for local food banks and clothing drives. If you know of another way to help those in need during the coming season, speak up and I will publish it in the next issue of the gazette.
While the need does not end after the holiday season, this time of year is particularly important to families and children. Winter can be a hard time to be alone, so let's show some of that charity well known among Goreans in their cities and those all over the Earth.
