The city requests that slaves not post multiple postings on the
Crimson_tavern board, as that is the main board where most of the latest talker news is posted. However, if a slave or Free person wishes to post messages in the tavern in moderation, that is fine. Postings of cooking chores and such are encouraged and welcome in the Talender_Inn and all the other rooms, because reading and writing them are a fun way for any citizen to amuse themselves when the talker is less busy.
aurora is not quite sure how to gently encourage slaves to be "more formal" in the tavern. This is not to say slaves must be all serious and boring or never be humorous. However, all slaves should try to refrain from being overly relaxed, using slang expressions, or being too familiar with the Freepersons in public unless the Freeperson is clearly inviting it. At times some slaves seem almost giddy, like kids at a pajama party, and that may be welcome behavior in private when with certain Freepersons, but not in the tavern in front of everyone. Rule eight discusses how all should try to maintain a gorean atmosphere in public rooms. This is what aurora is trying to encourage.
All slaves should be more careful about bombarding Free persons with tells. If you have a greeting, a quick question, or an emergency we are less strict than most irc channels about messaging Free persons without asking first. But no slave should assume they can strike up an entire conversation in tells without giving the Free person a choice in the matter. Slaves should have more courtesy than to assume they can continually message a Freeperson, especially if that Free person is in a room with someone else at the moment.
On a similar note, it's polite not to bombard a fellow-slave with tells when they are alone with a Free person. A brief greeting is fine, but to chat with a slave while they are busy is not so wise. If nothing else it's impolite to the Free person that the slave is with, because you are distracting the slave from focusing on them.
